Robert de was born about 1331 in Ogle, Castle Ward, Northumberland, England. Robert de's father was Robert de Ogle , Sir Knight and his mother was Joan de Hepple. His paternal grandparents were Robert de Ogle , Sir Knight and Margaret Gobion; his maternal grandparents were Robert de Hepple and Cicily Chartney. He was an only child. He died in November 1355 in Berwick Castle, Northumberland, England (dvp in an attack).General Notes
[ROBERT DE OGLE, son and heir apparent by 1st wife. As "donsel" of the diocese of Durham he had licence to choose a confessor, August 1349. In August 1351 he was attorney for his father to take seisin of Thirnham. He married Ellen, daughter and heir of Sir Robert BERTRAM, of Bothal, chivaler, by his 1st wife, Margaret (living in May 1341), daughter and coheir of Constance, wife of William DE FELTON (f). He died v.p., being slain in the attack on Berwick, November 1355. His widow married, 2ndly, before 25 October 1364, John DE HATFIELD, citizen and pepperer of London, who was living in 1368, and died before 15 May 1373. She married, 3rdly, before 28 June 1377, David DE HOLGRAVE, sometime the King's esquire (k). She died 24 September 1403. David de Holgrave died 9 June 1405. (f) Ellen's age is stated variously in the inquisitions of her father, Nov 1363, as 22 or 26.
(k) He [David de Holgrave] served as banneret in the campaign in Brittany in 1380; and was Knight of the Shire, Northumberland, 1382 and 1383. In 1403 he and his wife Ellen had licence to settle Bothal on John Bertram, younger son of Sir Robert Dogle (sic.).
