Joel Carey

Joel was born on April 25th, 1859 in Iowa. Joel's father was Joseph Ballard Carey and his mother was Mary Jane Willis. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Carey and Rhoda Ballard; his maternal grandparents were Jesse Willis and Betsy Sumner. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named William H., Jesse Willis, Asa Ballard, David Ballard, Elias Kelley (Rolan), Elwood, Calvin, Betsy and Jane Jeanette. He died at the age of 4 on September 16th, 1863.
