Richard was born on September 6th, 1794.1   Richard's father was Colonel Reuben Searcy and his mother was Susannah Elizabeth Jett.  His paternal grandparents were John Searcy and Phoebe Anderson. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Reubin, Jesse, James, Susan, Penelope, Jane and Harriet.  He was the second youngest of the eight children. He had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Asa, Bennett, Thomas, Robert, William Washington, John, Sarah, Henrietta, Elizabeth and Polly.  He died at the age of 38 on December 25th, 1832 in Batesville,AR.1
