James Maples

James was born in 1772 in Pitts. Co., Virginia.¹   James' father was Josiah Maples and his mother was Ruthea Sweeney.  His paternal grandfather was William Maples; his maternal grandparents were Moses SR. Sweeney and Ann (Sweeney). He had nine brothers and three sisters, named Ephraim, Josiah Jr., William Cordra, Peter C., Moses, Elijah, Jesse, Thomas, John W.?, Nancy, Ruthea and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1840 in Sevier Co., Tennessee.¹
