William Spears 
William was born about 1801 in Hawkins County, Tennessee.1 William's father was Samuel Spears and his mother was Sarah Spears. His paternal grandmother was Rosina Spears; his maternal grandparents were Kindred Spears and Elizabeth Jones. He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, Lazarus, Jesse, Phereba, Nancy Ann and Lucy. He was the youngest of the seven children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, and also a half-sibling of unknown gender, named John, William, Spears, Matilda, Spears, Matilda and Spears.-
