Martha Sowards 
Martha was born on August 28th, 1859 in Worth County, Missouri.1 Martha's father was Henry Sowards and her mother was Matilda Brumfield. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Sowards and Rosannah Spears; her maternal grandparents were John Brumfield and Mary Plaster. She had ten brothers and four sisters, named John, Henry, James, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Albert, Isaac Anderson, Franklin, Amon, Griffin, Joseph, Eliza Jane, Mary Ann, Mahala and Anna. She was the sixth oldest of the fifteen children.-
