Griffin Sowards 
Griffin was born on March 25th, 1873 in Worth County, Missouri.1 Griffin's father was Henry Sowards and his mother was Matilda Brumfield. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Sowards and Rosannah Spears; his maternal grandparents were John Brumfield and Mary Plaster. He had nine brothers and five sisters, named John, Henry, James, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Albert, Isaac Anderson, Franklin, Amon, Joseph, Eliza Jane, Mary Ann, Mahala, Martha and Anna. He was the second youngest of the fifteen children.-
