Charles Albert was born on January 1st, 1864 in Worth County, Missouri.1 Charles Albert's father was Henry Sowards and his mother was Matilda Brumfield. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Sowards and Rosannah Spears; his maternal grandparents were John Brumfield and Mary Plaster. He had nine brothers and five sisters, named John, Henry, James, Thomas Jefferson, Isaac Anderson, Franklin, Amon, Griffin, Joseph, Eliza Jane, Mary Ann, Mahala, Martha and Anna. He was the seventh youngest of the fifteen children.-
