Joseph Self

Joseph was born about 1818 in Gap Creek, Greene, Tennessee.¹   Joseph's father was Jesse Self and his mother was Agnes Dobson.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Self and Elizabeth; his maternal grandfather was John Dobson. He had five brothers and a sister, named Elijah R., Robert D., Josiah, Lewis, Reese V. and Lucinda.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.
