Elijah R. Self

Elijah R. was born about 1809 in Gap Creek, Greene, Tennessee.¹   Elijah R.'s father was Jesse Self and his mother was Agnes Dobson.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Self and Elizabeth; his maternal grandfather was John Dobson. He had five brothers and a sister, named Robert D., Josiah, Lewis, Joseph, Reese V. and Lucinda.  He was the oldest of the seven children.
