William Cate Hicks

William Cate was born in 1845 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹   William Cate's father was Reuben Hicks and his mother was Mary Mottern.  His paternal grandparents were Isaac Hicks and Mary. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Henry Jack, Jacob, John Elbert, Sarah, Mary Ann and Melissa E..  He was the third youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 70 in 1915.¹
