John Elbert Hicks

John Elbert was born in 1848 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹   John Elbert's father was Reuben Hicks and his mother was Mary Mottern.  His paternal grandparents were Isaac Hicks and Mary. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Henry Jack, Jacob, William Cate, Sarah, Mary Ann and Melissa E..  He was the second youngest of the seven children.
