William Douglas Hale 
William Douglas was born in December 1832 in ,Of Sullivan, Tennessee.1 William Douglas' father was Philip Smith Hale and his mother was Elizabeth Bachman. His paternal grandparents were Philip Heale and Catherine Douglas; his maternal grandparents were Nathan Bachman and Ann Peoples. He had two brothers and ten sisters, named Nathan Bachman, Philip Smith, Catherine Ann, Eliza Jane, Julia Ann, Sarah Amanda, Matilda Antoinette, Mary Bachman, Frances Louisa, Adelaide, Cornelia Josephine and Martha Ellen. He was the sixth youngest of the thirteen children.-
