From the book "Samuel Combest and His Descendants": John Combest was granted 150 acres from the State of Kentucky by a land warrant in Pulaski County, Kentucky on Wolf Creek, surveyed 22 August 1835 and an additional 190 acres, surveyed 12 January, 1836, also in Pulaski County, Wool Creek. Also listed under Grants in the County Court Orders we find 80 acres on Goose Creek in Russell County, Kentucky to John Combest, surveyed 5 November, 1846. John and Jane Spencer Combest were living in Pulaski County at the time of the 1830 Census. They and their two young sons and a daughter are recorded as follows:

In the year 1846, the death of John Combest occurred on 12 November, in the county of Pulaski, Kentucky. The final settlement of his estate was made on 21 September, 1853 in Russell County, Kentucky. Alexander Combest was the executor.
