Brown Combest 
Brown was born on November 27th, 1867 in Russell County, Kentucky.1 Brown's father was John Wiley Combest and his mother was Susan E. Gosser. His paternal grandparents were Wiley Combest and Sarah Hammond; his maternal grandparents were George Washington Gosser and Jamina Roy. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Josiah, Lewis, Sarah Jane, Pharoba, Jemina and Leona. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 69 on February 12th, 1937 in Valdasta, Texas (Stoney Point Cemetery).1 General Notes

"Samuel Combest and His Descendants" book
Brown was a land owner and had a general store, cotton gin and hardware
store.
Alexander Combest, cousin of Brown Combest, was also living the family,
according to the 1900 census. He was 32 years old, born August 1867 in
Kentucky. Family tradition has it that there was tuberculosis in the
family, causing the death of some of the Brown and Mary Elizabeth Combest
children. The disease also struck other Texas Combest cousins and was
referred to as "the ol' Combest Consumption."
