His paternal grandparents were Johann Nicklas KAUFFELT and Anna Maria GRUNDT; his maternal grandparents were Edward RYAN and Susannah SYMMONDS. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Henry , Daniel , James Henry , George , Jacob , Sarah, Rebecca, Barbara and Sarah . He was the second oldest of the ten children.-
