Jacob was born about 1782 in Greenbrier Co., VA. Jacob 's father was Johann Philipp KAUFELDT and his mother was Eleanor E. "Nelly" RYAN . His paternal grandparents were Johann Nicklas KAUFFELT and Anna Maria GRUNDT; his maternal grandparents were Edward RYAN and Susannah SYMMONDS. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Henry , John , Daniel , James Henry , George , Sarah, Rebecca, Barbara and Sarah . He was the second youngest of the ten children.-
