Joshua X Ginger
NOTE: James Hargraves said that he has a very good copy of the original
will written on November 27, 1824. T he text is similar but not exactly
the same. In this will, the name Grinder i s very clearly written and
leaves no doubt as to the spelling. Joshua could n ot read or write, but
his mark is interesting, it is a big "J". It would seem that the county
clerk
made a really unusual spelling mistake, transcribing Grinder as Ginger.
It is obvious
that the clerk copied from the original wil l and he got it about 95 %
right.
