Andrew Alexander Crawford 
Andrew Alexander was born on November 11th, 1812.1 Andrew Alexander's father was John Crawford and his mother was Margaret Buchanan. His paternal grandparents were William Crawford and Rachel Sawyers; his maternal grandparents were Andrew Buchanan and Johanna Hays. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Hays, William D, James, Naomi, Rachel Sawyers, Eleanor, Nancy and Joanna. He was the second youngest of the nine children.General Notes

Notes for ANDREW ALEXANDER CRAWFORD:
ANDREW ALEXANDER CRAWFORD, born 11 November 1812; died in battle at
Corinth, Miss. in Civil War; married (1)
Minerva Buchanan; married (2) Rachel Tinnon. Andrew was living in Ark. in
1850 (ref. chancery petition). The following
account w ritten by Mrs. Maurice Cruse appeared in Flashback, Vol. VII,
No. 4, July 195 7, published by Washington County
Historical Society.
"Andrew (Crawford) firs t married Minerva Buchanan. She was murdered by
her negro slave Caroline, who killed her with an
ax. She was murdered at the Mike Nail place south of Prair ie Grove, now
owned by Guy Skelton. Her small child Robert
played over her d ead body all day till found by her husband. Andrew
Crawford then married Rach el Tinnon, the grandmother
of thc Cruse children. The slave Caroline who murde red Mrs. Crawford was
chained in the old log school house or church
house kn own as the "White Church". At her trial she confessed that Mrs.
Crawford was the fourth mistress she had murdered."
The slave Caroline was hanged.
