William de Albini was born in 1165 in of Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire.1   William de Albini's father was William "le Breton" d'Aubigny Earl of Sussex and his mother was Matilda de St. Hilary du Harcourt.  His paternal grandparents were William le Meschines d'Aubigny Earl of Sussex and Adeliza de Brabant; his maternal grandparents were James de St. Hilary and Aveline (de St. Hillary). He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Richard FitzRoger de Clare, William, Richard and Aveline.  He died before March 30th, 1221 in Cainell, near Rome, Italy.1
