Mary was born on June 5th, 1729 in Hanover Co., Virginia.1 Mary's father was Thomas Stanley and her mother was Elizabeth Crew. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Stanley and Rebecca ?; her maternal grandparents were John Crew and Sarah Gately. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Pleasant, Zachariah, Joseph, John, Nathan, Thomas, Anne and Sarah. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Maddox, Elizabeth and Margery.-
