Living's father was Melvin Lewis Stanley and her mother was Maggie May Seay. Her paternal grandparents were John A. Stanley and Elvira Elizabeth Stanley; her maternal grandparents were Simon Seay and Emma Jane Alley. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Lee Andrew, Lewis Howard, Ernest Benjamin, Jane Elizabeth and Mary Pauline.-
