John's father was Samuel Overton and his mother was Rebekah Booker. His paternal grandparents were James Overton and Elizabeth Truehart; his maternal grandparents were Edmund Booker and Jane ?. He had two brothers named Thomas Perkins and Samuel. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Richard, William and Rebecca Davis. He died in 1800 in KY.-
