William Barkley Ladd 
William Barkley was born on September 20th, 1900. William Barkley's father was Robert Anderson Ladd and his mother was Alphra Mildred Lawrence. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mifflin Ladd and Lucy Elizabeth Cowardin; his maternal grandparents were William Quarles Lawrence and Mary Etta Woodson. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Robert Ashby, Lewis Watkins, Wellford Warfield, Weston Campbell Conn, Mary Bell, Birdie Winifred, Lucy Valina, Pearl Custis and Ruby Norwood. He was the second youngest of the ten children.-
