Birdie Winifred was born on March 10th, 1885. Birdie Winifred's father was Robert Anderson Ladd and her mother was Alphra Mildred Lawrence. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mifflin Ladd and Lucy Elizabeth Cowardin; her maternal grandparents were William Quarles Lawrence and Mary Etta Woodson. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Robert Ashby, Lewis Watkins, Wellford Warfield, William Barkley, Weston Campbell Conn, Mary Bell, Lucy Valina, Pearl Custis and Ruby Norwood. She was the second oldest of the ten children.-
