Lucy Valina was born on February 26th, 1887. Lucy Valina's father was Robert Anderson Ladd and her mother was Alphra Mildred Lawrence. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mifflin Ladd and Lucy Elizabeth Cowardin; her maternal grandparents were William Quarles Lawrence and Mary Etta Woodson. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Robert Ashby, Lewis Watkins, Wellford Warfield, William Barkley, Weston Campbell Conn, Mary Bell, Birdie Winifred, Pearl Custis and Ruby Norwood. She was the third oldest of the ten children.-
