Abraham was born in 1836 in Madison Co., Virginia.  Abraham's father was Augustine Hawkins and his mother was Matilda Wilhoit Finks. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Andrew Jackson, Alpheus Finks, Augustine, Paschal Walker, Harriet J. House, Matilda Ann, Nancy Eve, Sarah Elizabeth and Damaris.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died after 1916 in Joplin, Missouri.
