John Champe Carter 
John Champe was born on July 25th, 1758 in Albemarle Co., VA. John Champe's father was Edward Carter and his mother was Sarah Champe. His paternal grandparents were John Carter and Elizabeth Hill; his maternal grandparents were John Champe and Jane Thornton. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Charles, Robert Hill, Edward Hill, Whitaker, William Champe, George, Jane, Mary Champe, Nancy, Sarah and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 67 on April 5th, 1826 in Amherst Co., VA.-
