John Sam Bowles 
John Sam was born on August 30th, 1827. John Sam's father was Drury Wood Knight Bowles and his mother was Mary Ann Richardson. His paternal grandparents were Knight Bowles and Martha Wood Ellis; his maternal grandparents were George Washington Richardson and Elizabeth Barrett Payne. He had four brothers and four sisters, named George Knight, Richard A., Thomas Joseph, Drury Wood, Lucy Susan, Letitia Payne, Martha Ann and Mary Eliza. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 76 on August 21st, 1904.-
