Seymore Clyde was born on July 1st, 1889. Seymore Clyde's father was James Pleasants Amos and his mother was Elizabeth Jones Slayden. His paternal grandparents were William Franklin Amos and Frances Jane Faudree; his maternal grandparents were George Washington Slayden and Sarah Wood Clark. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Charles Cleveland, James Washington, Hester Ann, Mary Lucy, Lydia Lockett, Claudia Herndon, Gertrude May and Elsie Arlington. He was the third youngest of the nine children.-
