Gertrude May Amos 
Gertrude May was born on May 20th, 1891. Gertrude May's father was James Pleasants Amos and her mother was Elizabeth Jones Slayden. Her paternal grandparents were William Franklin Amos and Frances Jane Faudree; her maternal grandparents were George Washington Slayden and Sarah Wood Clark. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Charles Cleveland, James Washington, Seymore Clyde, Hester Ann, Mary Lucy, Lydia Lockett, Claudia Herndon and Elsie Arlington. She was the second youngest of the nine children.-
