*Sarah Compton was born in 1765 in Virginia, USA.¹ *Sarah Compton's father was *Henry Sumpter and her mother was Agnes D Dillon. Her paternal grandparents were *Richard Sumpter and *Jean LNU; her maternal grandparents were *William Dillon and Mary Belcher. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, William, George Washington, Henry, Agnes, Sally and Polly. She was the oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 86 in December 1851 in , Putnam, Indiana, USA.¹
