William was born in 1818 in Marden, Kent.  William's father was David STANLEY and his mother was Ann LAMBERT.  His paternal grandparents were Zebulon STANLEY and Ann SHAW; his maternal grandmother was Elizabeth. He had four brothers and four sisters, named David, George Lambert, Stephen, Charles, Rebecca, Ann Bowlden, Harriet and Sarah Boulden.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 66 in January 1884 in Marden, Kent.  He was buried on January 16th, 1884 in Marden, Kent.
