Thomas Richard was born in 1844 in Capel, Kent.  Thomas Richard's father was John MARTIN and his mother was Jane.  His paternal grandparents were John MARTIN and Ann. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, George, Mary Ann, Frances, Eliza and Ann S.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
