Eliza was born in 1850 in Capel, Kent.  Eliza's father was John MARTIN and her mother was Jane.  Her paternal grandparents were John MARTIN and Ann. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas Richard, George, Mary Ann, Frances and Ann S.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.
