George was born in year 1816 in Mawgan, Cornwall and was baptised on May 27th, 1816. George's father was George Whitaker and his mother was Jane Langdon. His maternal grandparents were William Langdon and Jane Bullock. He was the fifth of seven children. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George, George, William, Isabella, Emma and Mary. He died, at the age of 73 years, on August 20th, 1889 in Camberwell.
