John was born in year 1855 in Walworth. John's father was George Whitaker and his mother was Mary Ann King. His paternal grandparents were George Whitaker and Jane Langdon; his. He was the third of four children. He had three brothers named George, Thomas and Edwin. He died, at the age of 52 years, on July 24th, 1907 in Camberwell.
