Catherine, known as Kate, was born on January 16th, 1817 in Milford, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1   Kate's father was John C Younkin and her mother was Kathleen “Jane” Connelly (Younkin).  Her paternal grandparents were Frederick G Younkin and Catherine Patton (Younkin). She had two brothers and five sisters, named Moses, Alexander, Elizabeth, Jane, Agnes, Pertenah and Rosabelle.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 83 in 1900 in Modena, Mercer County, Missouri, USA.  She was buried at the Hamilton Cemetery, Mercer County, Missouri, USA.1 1 

Kate's family

Kate and John were married in a religious & civil ceremony on June 18th, 1836 in Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1   They had five sons and two daughters, named Oscar, Edward, Alfred, William, Bernard, Rosa and Catherine.
