Daniel, known as Dan, was born on March 11th, 1862 in Leipzig (Leibzig), Bessarabia, Russia (now Ukraine).1  Dan's father was Friedrich Jon “Fred” Sprecher and his mother was Louise “Christine” Gruning (Sprecher) Grunning.  His paternal grandparents were Gottfried Sprecher and Anna Katharina Sokolosky (Sprecher). He had six brothers and four sisters, named Christian, Friedrick, Gottlieb, Carl, Samuel, August, Anna, Juliana, Louisa and Christina.  He was the nineth oldest of the eleven children. He had a half-brother named Michael.  He died at the age of 63 on April 23rd, 1925 in Elgin, Grant County, North Dakota, USA.2 

Dan's family

Dan and Susanna were married in a religious & civil ceremony on February 24th, 1886 in Hutchinson County, South Dakota, USA.2  They had six sons and two daughters, named Christian, Rudolph, Oscar, Arthur, Robert, Ben, Paulina and Hulda.
