John Motion

John was born on July 27th, 1718 in St. Andrews and St. Leonards. John's father was Alexander Motion and his mother was Janet Collin. His paternal grandparents were John Motion and Christian Traill. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Andrew, John, Alexander, Christian, Margaret and Elspeth. He was the oldest of the eight children.
