Ann was born on February 20th, 1781 in Dreghorn and her baptism took place there on February 23rd, 1781.  Ann's father was Gabriel Galt and her mother was Jean Love.  Her paternal grandparents were John Galt / Gatt and Mary Walker; her maternal grandparents were Alexander Love and Jannet Brown. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Ninian, Gabriel, James, William, Jean, Agnes, Margaret, Elizabeth and Agnes.  She was the tenth oldest of the eleven children.
