Agnes was born on June 26th, 1783 in Dreghorn.  Agnes' father was Gabriel Galt and her mother was Jean Love.  Her paternal grandparents were John Galt / Gatt and Mary Walker; her maternal grandparents were Alexander Love and Jannet Brown. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Ninian, Gabriel, James, William, Jean, Agnes, Margaret, Elizabeth and Ann.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.
