Caroline was born on May 26th, 1843 in Isenstedt, Prussia.1   Caroline's father was Heinrich Wilhelm Brumwort and her mother was Anna Maria Dorothea Beckschewe.  Her paternal grandparents were Johan Herman Brumwort and Margaret Lisabeth Blase; her maternal grandparents were Johan C. Beckschewe and Anna Margaretha Elisabeth Rabe. She had eight brothers and a sister, named Wilhelm, Heinrich, Henry, Anton, Louis, Carl, Friedrich, Ernst and Caroline.  She was the youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 68 on April 26th, 1912.  She was buried in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, Shelby County, Illinois.1 1 




Caroline's family

Caroline and Henry were married in a religious ceremony on April 12th, 1863 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Pleasant Ridge, Madison County, Illinois.1   They had seven sons and four daughters, named Bill, Gottlieb, Carl, Friedrich, Johann, Carl, Carl, Anna, Henrietta, Emilie and Lena.  Carl and Henrietta were twins.
