Ludwig, known as Louis, was born on October 11th, 1828 in Isenstedt, Prussia.1   Louis' father was Heinrich Wilhelm Brumwort and his mother was Anna Maria Dorothea Beckschewe.  His paternal grandparents were Johan Herman Brumwort and Margaret Lisabeth Blase; his maternal grandparents were Johan C. Beckschewe and Anna Margaretha Elisabeth Rabe. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Wilhelm, Heinrich, Henry, Anton, Carl, Friedrich, Ernst, Caroline and Caroline.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 84 on August 27th, 1913.  He was buried at the Saint Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Hamel, Madison County, Illinois.1 1

Louis and Louisa were married on March 1st, 1858.  They had two sons and seven daughters, named Heinrich, Carl, Hanna, Maria, Caroline, Anna, Mathilda, Auguste and Marie.
