József was born on March 21st, 1841 in Maniga.1   His godfather was Bajza István and his godmother was Schramek Anna.  József's father was Matovics Pál and his mother was Paczelt Mária.  His maternal grandparents were Paczelt György and Tircz Mária. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named István, Mihály, Mária, Katalin, Anna, Ilona, Magdolna, Magdolna and Terézia.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died  due to phrysis at the age of 10 on December 15th, 1851 in Maniga.2
