John Andrew "Drew" Ennis

  • Known as Drew or J.A. believed in the man being head of the house
    he was a farmer until he was too old to farm.  He would talk politics to
    any one who would listen to him.  He also made poliiical speeches and he was making a speech one time and heres how it came out." Those germans
    are't going to sign no treace peaty."  They never let him live that down.
    He was also a pretty good auctionneer. One year when cotten prices were
    1 cent a bale he plowed the crop under. His sons wife Carrie Ennis tried
    to get him to let the family pick it and store it till prices went up. He
    refused and plowed it under,the next year cotten went to about 10 cents   a bale.  According to some family members he could also make a table walk
    but did it very seldom as he said it was the devil's work. It is also reported that he was a mason and that he did his masonic work faster than any known person in Ok.
