Thomas was born in 1620 in Eckington, Derbyshire, England.  Thomas' father was William STANIFORTH and his mother was Mary (UNKNOWN).  His paternal grandparents were William STANIFORTH and Joane MYCOCKE.  He had two brothers and six sisters, named Richard, John, Dorothy, Anne, Mary, Elizabeth, Grace and Margaret.  He was the youngest of the nine children.
