Martha was born in 1798 in Sale, Cheshire, England.  Martha's father was John MARSLAND and her mother was Martha ALDCROFT.  Her paternal grandparents were John MARSLAND and Mary WILLIAMSON.  She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Edward, Robert, John, James, James, Thomas, Samuel, Elizabeth and Mary.  She was the nineth oldest of the ten children.
