Betty was born on March 13th, 1808 in Ashton On Mersey, Cheshire, England.  Betty's father was James MARSLAND and her mother was Betty LEIGH.  Her paternal grandparents were John MARSLAND and Mary WILLIAMSON.  She had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Edward, James, Mary, Martha, Hannah and Rachel.  She was the seventh oldest of the eight children.
