    George Lawrence's mother was buried when he was three weeks old, apparently as a result of complications from childbirth.  His father remarried, and George was reared by his mother's younger brother Geo WADE & his family in Bogard Township, Daviess County.
    
    In 1908, when George was 23 years old, he married his wife Pearl in Martin County, just east of Daviess County.  Pearl's father was also named George Lawrence; he was a doctor who had died about nine years before.  Pearl's mother Della converted to Catholicism at the time of her own marriage.
    
    In 1910, George and Pearl were living in Bogard Township next door to George's aunt and uncle (and foster parents) George and Eliza Wade.  According to his World War I draft registration card in 1917, when he was 32 years old, George was of medium height and medium build; he had brown hair and blue eyes.  Like other young men of his generation, George was obliged to register for the draft; yet he was not called upon to serve. 
    
    George and Pearl remained in Bogard Township.  In 1930, he was renting his farm there and living with his wife Pearl and their six children.  They did not have a radio.  It is not yet known whether George ever owned land, but his eldest son John moved to northern Indiana between 1930 and 1938, suggesting otherwise.  George's first wife Pearl passed away in December 1956, George remarried to Lula Osborne Wray in 1958; George's grandaughter Carolyn remembers Lula as quite frail, and she passed away in 1960.  George's third wife was Margaret O'Connor.  George died in 1972 and was buried in St. John Cemetery in Loogootee, Martin County.
